CISA sees China’s crude steel output to reach 800 million tons in 2014

Zhang Changfu, the vice-chairman and secretary of the China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) said that China's crude steel output is expected to hit 800 million tons in 2014.

In 2013, the country's crude steel output is expected to hit 782 million tons, rising by 8% from a year ago.

China's apparent steel consumption in the first eleven months of this year reached 688 million tons. Zhang expected the country's crude steel consumption would reach 730 million tons in the whole of 2013.

Meanwhile, China produced 715 million tons of crude steel in the January-November period, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
